Beyond engaging in battles, players can explore the area to gather valuable items, including Mega Shards and Side Mission Cards. These cards offer secondary objectives that provide valuable rewards upon completion.

The acquisition of Prize Medals is a key progression mechanic within the Battle Zones. Fortunately, our own team was perfectly poised to counter Rintaro’s strategy. Tepig proved highly effective against Simisage, while Pikachu and Weepinbell handled Simipour. Staryu, a Water-type Pokémon, proved to be a decisive counter against Simisear. The successful execution of our team’s elemental advantages resulted in a decisive victory, earning us the coveted Rank V status. This battle underscored the importance of balanced team building and understanding type matchups in Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

Mega Evolution and Rogue Boss Battles: The Pinnacle of Combat

The final segment of our hands-on demonstration offered a thrilling glimpse into the game’s most climactic encounters: Rogue Mega-Evolved Pokémon battles. Notably, three of these Pokémon – Absol, Gardevoir, and Houndoom – possess the ability to Mega Evolve.

These orbs gradually fill a Mega Evolution gauge for each of our eligible Pokémon. This transformation dramatically amplified Houndoom’s offensive capabilities, allowing us to unleash a torrent of damage upon the Mega Victreebel.

We found ourselves needing to re-initiate the process of filling Mega Houndoom’s gauge to sustain its enhanced form. This back-and-forth struggle, with moments of intense offense and critical defensive maneuvers, created a highly engaging boss fight. After a prolonged and demanding engagement, the Rogue Mega Victreebel was finally defeated, reverting to its base form. For our efforts, we were awarded a Victreebel Mega Orb, a testament to our success in overcoming this powerful foe.
